I love my Altitude Hoody! Wore it on my AT hike in 23!!
I didn’t think I could hike in a long sleeve shirt but I got used to it. I have the Outdoor Research Astroman. No hood but it does have a collar to protect your neck. You will want that on the CT. Looking forward to hearing about your new gear.

I like your dynema bags. Did they come from amazon. I think I use the same ones. I exclisively use merino, and I love it. I’m a biger guy too, and sweat a lot no matter the temp. Merino is by far the superior material for staying dry and not stinky.

I also hate hiking in long sleeve but the Outdoor vitals Sun hoodie was a gamechanger for me! The outdoor research echo Sun hoodie is also great and virtually identical to the OV one, only thing is that OV doesn’t have thumb holes, but is about half the price. I think you’ll really enjoy it! I’m headed out on the JMT starting in July and am also bringing an Outdoor Vitals sun hoodie for all of the exposed areas. Great sun hoodie in my opinion. I love mine. I have purchased a couple pieces of gear from Outdoor Vitals and so far the quality has been top notch.

Hey Mike, I recently switched to Thermarest to myself. I’ve been using their topo Lux pad in the XL size, super comfortable. This new pair of yours wasn’t available when I bought mine. But I’ve been super happy with my Topo Luxe.
I have several Sun hoodies. That OV is my least favorite because of materials and cut. Get an OR Echo and be done with it.

What a dialed in list especially based on your AT thru-hike. For my AT2025, I use the 1/8" pad on top for the exact same reason! It’s also a great sit pad and part of my sleep pad (w/ Reflectix). I also just purchased the exact sun hoodie, same color! At just 4oz. it’s like air. Looking forward to testing it out. Best wishes in 2025! Ps. Hello! I am curious what your opinion on the Frog Toggs Lite jacket is after the hike. Did it end up working for you?
Towel is one of the pieces of kit that I need to carry also. With two dogs, there is much to clean up after. This piece of kit is an upgrade for me this year, as I am trying the swedish dish cloth upgrade to see if it’s enough for me.

Bought the OV sun shirt and wore it on the Pinhoti recently. Love it! I’ve bought other products from this company too.
You might consider sunsleeves instead of sunshirt. The ones for tennis and pickleball players have high uv protection and are cooling. Hat drape for your face and neck.
